Attending the Women in Tech Global Summit
Attending the Women in Tech Global Summit left a lasting impression on Linda and Krisanne. Surrounded by innovators, leaders, and changemakers from across the globe, the experience sparked important conversations and fresh perspectives. In this article, they share what they learned, the moments that resonated most, and their thoughts on the future of women in technology and the role we all play in shaping it.
Attending the Women in Tech Global Summit provided an opportunity to be surrounded by women in the industry who are making leaps and strides in the tech space, most of whom have been actively bridging the gap and shaping the future of technology through leadership, innovation, and advocacy.
As young innovators in the communications technology space, being at the forefront of emerging technologies means continuously learning, connecting with like-minded people and deepening our understanding of what it takes to grow and lead as women in tech.
The summit served as a reminder that growth within the technology sector is not only about technical advancement, but also about collaboration, representation, and ensuring that diverse voices continue to influence the direction of innovation.Hosted in Cape Town, South Africa, the Summit welcomed more than 600 attendees from 63 countries for its first-ever edition on African soil. With conversations centred around education, business, digital inclusion, advocacy and tech diplomacy, the event created a meaningful platform for global and African tech leaders to connect, collaborate and drive impactful conversations forward. Alongside the Summit, the African Tech Symposium further amplified the momentum by bringing together leaders actively shaping the future of technology across the continent.

Krisanne and Linda
There is truly something empowering about being in a room of successful women sharing ideas and opinions, inspiring one another to be confident, challenge the status quo, and collectively influence the direction of technology going forward. Not only as women but as the pioneers of the new tech industry. These conversations carried a sense of responsibility and possibility.
For us, being part of these meaningful conversations offered a renewed perspective on a world that values talent, ideas, and innovation above gender, cultivating a space where women are seen and respected as equals.
Over the three days we spent at the summit, one thing became undeniably clear: the driving force behind growth and innovation in the tech industry is being shaped by strong, visionary women. From banking and fintech to cloud-based services women are not only contributing to progress; they are leading it and redefining it as creators and industry leaders, and creating new pathways for future generations to follow.
The summit also reinforced that leadership takes many forms. Some women are driving innovation through technical expertise, while others are influencing policy, governance, education, or entrepreneurship. What united these voices was a shared commitment to creating a more inclusive and forward-thinking technology landscape.
Being a Women in VoIP
Working in VoIP means being part of an industry that keeps people connected every day, often without them even realising the technology behind it. From business calls and remote work to cloud communications and customer support, VoIP is an important part of how modern businesses operate.
Technology is moving fast, but awareness and understanding are not always moving at the same pace. Many young women still do not realise that there are careers available in industries like VoIP, cloud communications, AI, cybersecurity, and software development. The conference highlighted how important it is to create pathways that expose younger women to these opportunities early, allowing them to see themselves as future innovators and leaders.
Soft skills, critical thinking, communication and adaptability were all identified as essential capabilities for the tech industry. This especially resonated with us, working in the telecommunications sphere, that tech may power communication systems, but the people remain at the centre of it.
The possibilities seem endless when it comes to the representation and visibility of women being leaders in a space that was once dominated by men. Discovering that women are at the forefront of projects in Artificial Intelligence, corporate governance and compliance and the globalization of tech diplomacy reminded many of us that there is room for women not only to participate in but to lead.
What stood out most was the collective understanding that creating opportunities for women in technology requires more than inspiration alone. It requires mentorship, access to education, continuous learning, and organisations willing to invest in diverse talent.
Representation may open the door, but sustained support and opportunity are what allow women to thrive.

The Future of Women in Technology
There was a strong focus on the educational pursuits surrounding women in technical fields, the reality that nearly 50% of students in tech-related disciplines are female yet the employment opportunities for women remain significantly lower. This indicates that the challenge is no longer about getting more access for women to study in tech, but rather ensuring that there are more employment avenues that nurtures growth and development.
This conversation highlighted an important shift. The future of women in technology is not solely dependent on participation but on retention, advancement, and creating workplaces where women can build sustainable and impactful careers.
Events such as the Women in Tech Global Summit are more than networking opportunities, they are spaces where important conversations can be held around AI, digital inclusion, creativity, policy creation and sustainability.
They create environments where ideas can move beyond discussion and become actionable initiatives.
We hope that the future receives greater investment from the government as well as the private sector, because investing in women in technology is ultimately investing in the country’s digital future.
What this means for Voys SA and Looking ahead
For Voys SA, we’ll definitely continue aligning with initiatives like the Women in Tech Global Summit. We should also be exploring the possibility of attending the conference in one of the other Voys entity-based countries to create an opportunity for international engagement, cross-cultural learning, and stronger collaboration across the global tech community.
Being a part of these organisations not only aligns with our values within Voys but also the position that advocates for more women in the tech space, supportive, open, evolving and rooted in equality.
As working women, we also carry a responsibility to encourage the next generation. Young girls need to know that technology is not a space reserved for a select few. It is a space where creativity, problem-solving, communication, and innovation all come together.
We are honoured to have been part of an event so transformative and profound that it encouraged us to reflect on our own growth, our place within the tech industry, and the value of the work we do every day. It reinforced the realisation that our operational roles and adoption work sit at the very core of the organisation, and that how we define them actively contributes towards shaping the future of women in tech.
More importantly, the summit reminded us that progress is not built by individuals alone but through communities willing to support one another, share knowledge, and open doors for those who will follow.
