Red Bull Flugtag is landing in Cape Town — and Voys South Africa is officially taking to the skies! Known worldwide for turning fearless creativity into full-on spectacle, Flugtag challenges teams to design, build, and pilot their own human-powered flying machines off a ramp and straight into the sea. This year Voys South Africa is in the mix!
What is Red Bull Flugtag?
Red Bull Flugtag is coming to Cape Town, and Voys South Africa is officially part of the action! Known worldwide as one of Red Bull’s most daring and entertaining events, Flugtag challenges teams to design and build their own human-powered flying machines before launching them off a giant ramp into the sea. (Or most reliable water source)
It’s creative chaos in motion. There are costumes, wild designs, and a whole lot of courage. And now, for the first time, Team Voys is ready to take flight and show South Africa what we’re made of.
How it all began
Our journey to Flugtag started the Voys way, with enthusiasm, teamwork, and a touch of madness.
Our tech support legend Ijaaz spotted that Red Bull Flugtag was landing in the Mother City and shouted across the office:
“Hey Val, you scallywag! Red Bull Flugtag is coming to Cape Town, let’s sign up and show what we’ve got!”
Within minutes, everyone was on board. @G, @Curtley, @Todd, and our brave (and slightly reluctant) second pilot all joined Team Voys Skyjacks. One quick chat with Finance, a pitch to Marketing, and the mission was a go.
Since then, we’ve turned into after-hours engineers, carpenters, and dreamers. Between calls, SEO, support and code, we’ve been cutting, drilling, designing, and testing our handcrafted flying machine that will launch on November 2, 2025, at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town.

Will our craft glide gracefully or belly-flop into the Atlantic? No one knows. But we can guarantee plenty of laughs, energy, and good vibes, the true spirit of Red Bull Flugtag.
Red Bull Flugtag will be running all weekend, from Friday, October 31st, to Sunday, November 2nd. (being flight day) You’ll be able to check out the crafts in their respective hangars, and we’ll also have a few giveaways at Voys, so swing by the Voys Hangar and see what we’ve built!
Old-school ingenuity meets modern creativity.
Inspired by the legendary De Havilland DH.98 Mosquito — a British twin-engined, multirole combat aircraft introduced during the Second World War — our design celebrates the same spirit of innovation and craftsmanship. Unusual for its time, the Mosquito’s airframe was constructed almost entirely from wood, earning it the nickname “The Wooden Wonder” or “Mossie.” In 1941, it was one of the fastest operational aircraft in the world.
Channeling that legacy, we’ve combined traditional hand-built techniques with clever engineering and a few modern twists to bring our own wooden creation to life.
For sustainability, we’ve kept our materials as earth-friendly as possible with minimal waste.
We hope you enjoy seeing our creation as much as we’ll enjoy taking the plunge into the ocean with it! 🌊
